Brother Johnny Gurley, the son of the late Odell and Sarah Gurley, was born on June 10, 1957, in Calvary, Georgia, and passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Johnny attended the public schools of Grady and Gadsden counties. He was employed with the City of Tallahassee Sanitation Department for many years. He was also a self-employed carpenter for many years. Johnny was a family man who enjoyed playing cards and cooking (especially barbecuing on the grill), and he loved caring for children.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Quinton Gurley; sister, Willie Mae (Gerri) Moore; and brother, Odell Gurley.

He leaves to treasure and preserve his memory: his six sisters, Elouise Lowe (Johnny) of Gretna, FL, Janie Gurley (his twin), Bessie Hayes (Timothy), Osie Gurley, Sandra G. Harrison, Anita Gurley all of Tallahassee, FL, and Julia Mae Grant of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Clinton (Glenda) of Havana, FL, Gary (Connie) Anthony of Tallahassee, FL, and Tyrone (Alisia) Cairo, GA; special friend, Melody Dotson of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.
