Alma Browning
Vickers
Aug 14, 1939 — Jul 30, 2025
Havana
Alma Vickers, a strong and God-fearing woman whose life radiated faith, kindness, and resilience, entered into eternal rest on July, 30th, 2025, in Havana, Florida, at the age of 85. Born in Havana to the late Eddie Browning and the late Beatrice Browning, Alma was raised with deep spiritual roots and a heart devoted to service. She lived each day with grace, humility, and purpose—always placing God, family, and community at thecenter of her life.
Alma was the proud matriarch of her family, a role she embraced with quiet strength and endless love. She was a sweet soul known for her tireless work ethic and willingness to help anyone in need. Her home was a place of comfort, her presence a steady source of peace.
As a member of Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church, Alma lived her faith in both word and deed. Her love for the Lord was reflected in every meal she shared, every prayer she whispered, and every life she touched. Alma dedicated 42 years of her life working as a House Manager or the Hughes family. Her attention to detail, reliability, and quiet dignity earned the respect of all who knew her. She approached her work with the same values she carried in all areas of her life with humility, excellence, and care. She continued this work faithfully until her well-earned retirement.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cleveland Vickers and her cherished daughter, Marilyn Johnson.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted children:
Angelo Simmons, Michael Simmons, Shirley Butler, Darrel Simmons (Shelia), and Rosa Dorsey; son-in-law, Larry Johnson; stepchildren, Lorenzo Jackson (Bernice), Yolanda Vickers Dewayne Vickers, Carlos Vickers, Latissa Vickers, Altonise Jones, and Angela Walker; grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Andrew, Ferkeydo (Lakreshia), Anwar (Porsha), Timika, Monterious, Diedra (Dale), Anton, Asanti, Keondra, Katia, Bakari, and Braylen; twenty-five great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert Vickers (Stella) and Willie C. Simmons (Sarah); sisters-in-law, Nettie Vickers, Lexie Bethea, Vernell Gaines (Augusta, Sr.), and Alberta Simmons; a special cousin, Dorothy Sales (Sol); a devoted friend, Jackie Wilcoxson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
